致病成因
手足口病是由多種腸道病毒（如柯薩奇病毒和腸病毒71型）引起的傳染病。它傳染性極高，主要透過直接接觸患者的鼻咽分泌物、唾液、水疱液或糞便傳播。更棘手的是，這些病毒在環境表面（如玩具、門把手、課桌椅）具有極強的生存能力，常因接觸到受污染的物件而造成交叉感染。
治理方法
目前並沒有特效藥物治療手足口病。主要的治理方法是緩解症狀（對症治療），例如使用藥物退燒和減輕局部痛苦。家長應讓患者多喝水、多休息。若兒童出現持續高燒、嘔吐、嗜睡或抽搐等重症前兆，必須立即求醫。

Every year during peak seasons, Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD) catches parents and schools off guard. Even when surfaces look sparkling clean, children can still get infected. How exactly does HFMD spread, and how can we use science to break the chain of transmission?
🔬 Understanding HFMD: Symptoms, Causes, and Management
Common Symptoms
HFMD primarily affects infants and young children. Early symptoms include fever, loss of appetite, and a sore throat. Subsequently, painful blisters and ulcers may develop on the oral mucosa, tongue, and inner cheeks. Red rashes or small blisters may also appear on the palms, soles of the feet, and sometimes the buttocks or knees.
Causes & Transmission
HFMD is an infectious disease caused by a variety of enteroviruses (such as Coxsackievirus and Enterovirus 71). It is highly contagious and spreads mainly through direct contact with an infected person's nasopharyngeal secretions, saliva, blister fluid, or stool. Crucially, these viruses can survive for long periods on environmental surfaces (such as toys, doorknobs, and desks), leading to cross-infection via contaminated objects.
Management & Care
There is currently no specific antiviral treatment for HFMD. Management is primarily symptomatic, focusing on fever relief and pain reduction. Parents should ensure that infected children rest well and stay hydrated. If a child develops warning signs of severe complications—such as a persistent high fever, vomiting, lethargy, or convulsions—immediate medical attention is required.
