Microbiological Testing Services
Enviro Labs Ltd. (ELL) offers microbiological testing services to support the environmental, food, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical industries. Results of microbiological testing could reveal the potential health hazards to human who exposed to them. Microbiological testing can also be used as an indicator to test for the efficiency of disinfection system and the cleanliness of treated samples. ELL is equipped with experienced microbiologists and sophisticated facilities, offers a wide diversity of microbiological testing services to meet the needs of our customers.
Total Bacterial Count
Total Bacterial Count (TBC), also known as Heterotrophic Plate Count (HPC), Heterotrophic Colony Count (HCC), Aerobic Plate Count (APC), Total Plate Count (TPC), or Standard Plate Count (SPC), represents the total bacterial load in a given sample.It is a test to detect all viable microorganisms that could grow aerobically on plate count agar at appropriate incubation condition (usually 37ºC, 48hrs).
Coliform & E. coli
Coliform bacteria are commonly found in the intestine of humans and warm blooded animals. A specific subgroup of coliform bacteria is feacal coliform bacteria, with the most common member in the subgroup being Escherichia coli (E.coli).
Legionella pneumophila
Legionella pneumophila is a pathogenic bacterium that causes the fatal Legionnaires’s disease in human. Patients with Legionnaire’s disease usually suffer from pneumonia and fever. The disease is usually transmitted through inhalation of aerosol containing Legionella pneumophila.
Enterococci
Enterococci are commonly found in the intestines of humans, and are used as an indicator of faecal pollution and gastrointestinal pathogens in water being tested. Swimming in recreational fresh or marine water with a large amount of Enterococcus is known to be directly related to the risk of gastrointestinal illness.
Food Pathogens
Enviro Labs Limited serves food providers with various food microbial tests, including all microbial tests stated in the “Microbiological Guidelines for Food” issued by the Centre for Food Safety of Hong Kong.
Amoeba
Amoeba is a protozoa that could be present in fresh water system such as swimming pools, spa or jacuzzi pools, and hot spring.
Norovirus
Norovirus is a highly infectious virus. You can get norovirus from an infected person, contaminated food or water, or by touching contaminated surfaces. Research showed that about half of the norovirus infection was foodborne.
Yeast & Mold
Humid and warm environment in Hong Kong provides a perfect growing condition for yeast and mold. There are over hundreds of species of yeast and mold that cause food spoilage. These organisms could invade raw materials, food processing equipment, and food storage facilities.
Swab Testing
Swab test is used to detect bacteria count of surfaces. In food industry, swab test is commonly used to monitor hygienic standards of environment or food handlers.
